  1. Leadership – Art or Science? Leading is an art; leadership is the combination of the science we learn and the art of leading

  2. Science and art • The information within the books that we study, personalities we distinguish, leadership structures, and leadership best practices we learn, are all considered the science of leadership. • The art of leadership comes with human interpretation of the science

  3. Science and art • Simply because you have read about leadership and studied it does not mean that others will view you as a leader, or that you will automatically become one simply because you are schooled on the science.

  4. Science and art • Taking the time to understand the people you lead develops a level of trust and influence. • Cultivating the trust and influence within your followers is an art. • Simply being competent at something doesn’t develop that level of influence, having that art, that caring, taking that time, that’s where the leadership will grow.
