  2. About Me • 25th year of teaching. • BA in Math Education, MA in curriculum and instruction, NBCT • Raised by a high school math teacher

  3. About Assignments • Included in Math Log Book • Answers written to be read– neat, clear, in pencil, with a straight edge and frequent spacing • Need to be done • Offers Basic or Challenging • Need to be attempted, problems started

  4. Late, Missing, Incomplete • Kids have the homework out at the beginning of class. • Extended time available for excused absences • Extended time given at the time it’s due if a notation from a parent indicates a need. Kids have to tell you before it’s due.

  5. Our aim is for 15-30 min. of homework a night. • Occasionally it will be more, but we do not intend for students to spend hours on assignments. • This would fall in the “rare and extenuating circumstances” category.

  6. Grades • 4 Wow 100% A • 3 Alright 75% B • 2 Almost 50% C • 1 Oh-oh 25% D • 0 Huh 0% F

  7. IMT2 Topics • Accentuate the Negative (rational numbers and the four operations) • Stretching and Shrinking (similarities of polygons) • Comparing and Scaling (using proportions, ratios, and percents) • Filling and Wrapping (surface area and volume) • Moving Straight Ahead (linear relationships and equations) • Samples and Populations (visual representations of the distributions of data)
