  4. Ouchi-O’Donovan 6-12 Complex • Merger: What Does it mean that we are one school? • What are some successes? What are the challenges? • Give one Get One Activity: Speak to various parents, introduce yourself, and share a success or challenge. Add new successes or challenges to your document until its fully complete.

  5. Quarter 3 Benchmarks • Benchmark Purpose- To prepare students for Common Core Exams in May. Exams are cumulative of all standards taught thus far. • Benchmark Exams- March 24th– 28th: Students will take exams in Math, English, Science, & History • Common Core Purpose- To prepare students and teachers for nation wide Common Core transition for 2015 school year. *All assessment results to be reviewed as a district & school on 3/31-4/2

  6. Spring break: April 14 - April 18 • To best prepare students for our upcoming assessments (Week of April 7th) we will provide your child with study prep packets. • Spring Packets due upon their return from Break on April 2nd. • Modified Office Hours during Spring Break- 7:30pm-2pm • Great time to volunteer for parent service hours (due May 30th).

  7. Beatification Day: Saturday, March 24th • We have space for a total of 10 parents • Sign-Up in the Office • Opportunity for 3 Parent Hours • Saturday, March 24th- 8am -11am

  8. Celebration of Learning • What: Celebration of Learning (Open House) from 5-7pm • When: Wednesday, April 9th • Why: So you can celebrate your students progress and successes throughout all his/her classrooms • Where: All classrooms at O’Donovan will open their doors to all parents to celebrate our students success! • ***Bonus- Parents that attend will receive up to 3 parent hours!!!

Smarter Balance 2014 • Purpose- digital common core state pilot exam to identify students grade level abilities in the math and ELA areas. • 6th -8th Grade Smarter Balance Testing- May 6th- 10th • 8th Grade CST- Science: April 28th – May 2nd • 8thGrade Smarter Balance Testing- May 5th – May 9th • Testing Subjects- Math, English, Science- CST (8th only)

  10. Promotion 2014 • 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony will take place Thursday, June 5th at 3pm • Location: Carson Civic Center- 3 Civic Plaza Drive Carson, Ca. 90745 • Details will be sent home the week returning from Spring break

  11. 8th Grade Activities: Dues $50 • May 29th- 8th Grade Awards Ceremony • Grad Night: Magic Mountain- May 16th • CSU, Fullerton Fieldtrip- Mon. June 2nd • Fulcrum Adventures- Tuesday, June 3rd • 8th Grade Breakfast- Wed, June 4th • 8th Grade Legacy Project/Promotion Ceremony- Thurs, June 5th • *Diploma Distribution- Friday, June 6th
