Authentication Basics • Username and Password used to Verify Identity • Leverages a centrally located directory of user information • Results in some kind file that allows computers to remember who you are • Only good for a certain amount of time • Allows for access control to resources ranging from printers, to file shares to the front door of your office • Generally limited in a corporate environment to those assets that exist within the network that your company maintains
