Microsoft Hyper-V System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) is Microsoft's virtual machine support canter for Windows-based systems. SCVMM upholds Microsoft's focus on efficiency with features to help administrators consolidate multiple physical servers within a central virtualized environment. CVMM can manage you on premise virtual machines, your Cloud Based Virtual machines, and can migrate between the two. The use of RDMA Network cards mean that the host CPU power is free to compute for its purpose, and the network interfaces can transfer data across the network. This permits high throughput, low latency networking. InfiniBand is a switched fabric computer network communications link used in high-performance computing and enterprise data center's. Its features include high throughput, low latency, quality of service and failover, and it is designed to be scalable. This is the process of running Hyper-V virtual machine resources on the file sharing protocol SMB 3.0. Your Virtual Machines use all the processing power of your virtual server infrastructure but the storage for the virtual machines is on an SMB v3 network share (Storage Spaces). Microsoft Storage Spaces Storage Tiers allow for use of SSD and hard drive storage within the same storage pool as a new feature in Windows Server 2012 R2. Storage Tiers provides the ability to store more frequently accessed data on SSD media to drastically increase performance, with both types of media used as block based storage for the same virtual disk. Storage Tiers De-Duplication is a well known feature available in many high end SAN’s (Storage Area Network). Storage spaces solutions offer this feature too even though as a solution it is up to 70% cheaper. This block level storage feature saves up to 70% of required space by only storing pieces of information once. Any files or services that reference this block share this data and duplication of data does not take place. De-Duplication In Storage Spaces implementations with 3 or more JBOD enclosures, the Enclosure Awareness feature is available. In addition to disk resilience that you choose to configure from your levels of Mirroring/Parity, this provides resilience for a full failure of an entire JDOB Enclosure. Enclosure Awareness This feature recovers from a disk failure automatically and restores full functionality and resilience must faster than traditional methods. Traditionally the use of Hot Spares were used for this functionality, but the Hot Spare had to rebuild all data itself which can take hours meaning risk of another failure during recovery stage is high. This solution uses all disks so recovers in a much reduced time. Fast Failover Recovery
