Standard Form Contracts/Agreements Reasons for using “Standard Form” Contracts/Agreements • To ensure that all consultants are working under the same terms and conditions/rules • To ensure consistency of documentation and administration • To streamline procurement processes • Coordination with construction contract and general conditions • Ensure consistency in work products from design professionals

Difference in Forms/Format of PSA’s Contract ComponentShortLong Scope of Work Paragraph Appendix A (small number of tasks) (numerous tasks, design phases & deliverables) Compensation Lump Sum < $200K Appendix B (simple, clearly specified (by task, phase or payment schedule or single deliverable) at completion) Schedule Usually Measured Appendix C in Days (multiple milestone (usually less than 180 days) associated with task, phase or deliverable and usually measured in months/years)

  7. Examples of When to Use the Long Form PSA • Any contract requiring Full Service Design • Any complex scope of work requiring the prime consultant to have multiple sub-consultants • Any contract that represents a substantial risk to the District • Large-value construction projects
