  2. bilk Definition Example • (v) to cheat or swindle; to thwart or frustrate • syn: to defraud, elude • The crooks tried tobilk older homeowners by charging them for work the homeowner never authorized.

  3. blatant Definition Example • (adj) offensively noisy; obvious, too conspicuous • syn: vociferous • His blatant efforts to get the girl’s attention were embarrassing to everyone.

  4. blight Definition Example • (n) anything that destroys, prevents growth, or causes devaluation • syn: disease • My tomato plants were all affected with blight.

  5. cache Definition Example • (n) a hiding place; or things hidden, usually valuables • They used a hold in a hollow tree, known to only the three of them, as their cache.

  6. cadaverous Definition Example • (adj) of or like a corpse; pale, gaunt, thin • syn: ghastly • ant: robust, healthy • The old pirate’s cadaverous face made the young sailor tremble involuntarily.
