The Philippines is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. It as an important contributor to the importing and exporting that occurs in Asia and throughout the world. As it continues to grow so does its poverty. The My Times stated the amount of people living under the national poverty line grew from 24.9% to 26.5% in the past five years. Those that suffer the worst from this poverty are the children. Philippines Influence
The children of the Philippines are effected through these ways: They are forced into labor which includes prostitution.They suffer from poverty and cannot supply for themselves.Their homes and families can be taken away from them with a single storm. They Need Help

While many countries have established clear cut laws and enforce these laws about child labor, the Philippines is slow to meet these expectations. While they do have laws against the child labor, they have failed to enforce these laws on several occasions. • The children are trafficked to other countries for labor. In 2012 the government sent back 514 Filipina domestic workers from Syria; over 90% had suffered physical, psychological, and verbal abuse. Child Labor
There are more than 100,000 children involved in child prostitution. • The girls will be sold on the street for 25$ and see up to 10 customers a day. If they do not make enough money they are beaten. • The Philippines is highly affected all forms of commercial sexual exploitation of children. As we can see from the chart the number of sexual abuse and other types of abuse is going down. However this chart does not show all the crimes that have not been filed. • Many of these abuses occurred against children and their mothers.
On top of all the social issues children face, they are constantly threatened by home displacement and loss of parents. • Philippines is a hot spot for typhoons and tropical storms, much like the one we just faced. • Children’s homes can be lost or their parents killed from these storms. Typhoons
