You use l’imparfait when you are: • setting the scene • describing something • talking about habitual or repeated actions • the action has no real beginning or ending
They were working. • Ilstravaillent. • She was finishing. • Elle finissait. • We were giving the book back. • Nous rendions le livre.
There are three irregulars: • êtreét • falloirfallait • pleuvaitpleuvait
cer and ger verbs • -cer verbs will add the ç in all forms except the nous and vous! • This is different than the present. • -ger verbs will add the - e in all forms except the nous and vous!
