  10. scene of an accident A team of builders was working on an old house when the scaffolding collapsed. 14 year old Sam saw it happen… “There was a crash, then clouds of dust. Ragged bits of metal, broken glass and scaffold poles were all over the place. Slates rained down off the roof onto the rubble. Then I saw the injured people…”

  18. Clearing airway, recovery position • What is an airway? • Why clear the airway? Why do you need air? • Why do you choke? • How do you clear the airway • Head tilt/chin lift or jaw thrust (spinal injury) • Check airway (food) • Clear – colar, jaw

Clearing airway, recovery position Body Position • Position helps airway by allowing fluids/vomit to drain out • Only to be used when spinal injury is NOT suspected • If spinal injury is suspected, the patient must be secured solidly to a rigid board so that the body can be turned to the side as a total unit(can also use Jaw thrust for suspected spinal injuries).

  22. Minor Bleeding • They will get better on their own, but you can help. • Is the area safe? • Other injuries? • Wash hands or wear gloves • Clean water, gauze or sterile cloth, not cotton • Remove debris if safe • Edge of wounds/ surrounding area • Clean/sterile plaster. CAREFULLY

  23. Major bleeding • Major bleeding can kill you…. • Can be internal (shock) or external • How much blood do you have? • Examples of how you can have external bleeding • Stabs, bites, broken bones glass knives

Conslusion • Our Body is a gift from Allah and a trust • A Muslim can NOT harm their own body وَلاَ تُلْقُواْ بِأَيْدِيكُمْ إِلَى التَّهْلُكَةِ وَأَحْسِنُوَاْ إِنَّ اللّهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُحْسِنِينَ “…And make not your own hands contribute to [your] destruction…" (2:195) • A Muslim must take care of their body – Physically/ spiritually المؤمن القوي خير وأحب الى الله من المؤمن الضعيف، وفي كل خير “The strong believer is better and more beloved than the weak and in both are good.” • Whoever saves one person it is as if he saves the whole world وَمَنْ أَحْيَاهَا فَكَأَنَّمَا أَحْيَا النَّاسَ جَمِيعًا “…if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people..” (5:32) • Learning about our body shows miracles of Allah • Islam also provides spiritual cures
