Class Room Rules • Students will be respectful at all times. • Students will follow teacher’s directions the first time given. • Students will complete and submit on time. • Students will be in their seat and prepared for class when the bell rings. • Students will keep hands, feet, objects and other body parts themselves. • Students will refrain from drinking or chewing in class.
Consequences Consequences • Step 1: Redirect the student. • Step 2: Remind the student of the classroom rule. • Step 3: Issue the student a warning. • Step 4: Hold the student after class for one minute out of • passing time to their next class. • Step 5: Ask the student to stay after school in detention with • you, the teacher. • Step 6: Call the parent. • Step 7: Refer the student to the Dean of Students.
Crisis Management Plan The manual covers the procedures to be enacted during specific crisis situations. There will be an announcement over the PA system indicating the particular crisis preceded by a color code prefix.
Code White Code White: indicates that this is a training exercise. There is NO actual threat or crisis situation. If it is announced, “Attention this is a code white bomb threat,” everyone should follow the procedure; however remain aware that there is NO threat or event.
Code Red Code Red: the same procedures apply as in a code white, however this is an ACTUAL threat or event.
Command and Control In every instance the “command post” will be the main office. If the chain of command in the administration is disrupted in any way the empty post will be filled by the next administrator in line. THE RESPOSIBILITIES OF THE CLASSROOM TEACHER ARE NOT TO BE ALTERED OR DISRUPTED FOR ANY REASON.
Emergency Boxes: • Each classroom will have a box in case of emergency. In addition, each classroom should be equipped with a bucket and toilet paper. The contents of the box should be as follows: • a red card • a white card • two large sheets of paper • attendance lists • sanitary items • rubber gloves • first aid kit • duct tape • candles • matches • light sticks • Emergency Phone Numbers: • Police Department: 973-763-3000 • Fire Department: 973-762-3200
Summary and Questions We need to be prepared for a variety of possible incidents. The protocol for each procedure has been setup by the state and archdiocese. We will need to practice in order to ensure the procedures are properly enacted.
