Pre-departure Orientation General program schedule & travel arrangements Academic expectations & university policies Credit, attendance, grading, behavior Withdrawal or dismissal from the program Health & Safety Insurance, immunizations, prescription medication Emergency protocol, important contact information Registering side trips in their GoAbroad online application General safety advice (pickpocketing, food, staying together, etc.) Accommodations Location Amenities such as laundry, kitchen facilities, linens, etc. Topics to Address:

Documents to Bring Folder or binder with: • Important contacts • Student phone numbers • Itinerary • Passport copies • Insurance cards and information • Student medical information • Folder or envelope for receipts
Accessing Student Information Online • Go to http://goabroad.cua.edu/ • Sign in with your CUA network ID and password • Click ‘Applicants,’ then ‘Search.’Enter student name or program keyword and term. • Select application. • Click on ‘Questionnaires’ and ‘Profile’ tab to view student information: • Passport • Flight itineraries • Health form • Emergency contacts
Responsibilities While Abroad Teach, lead, or direct program activities! Resolve any incidents or emergencies with CUA or on-site help, if needed.Submit an incident report upon resolution of the incident. Maintain financial records.
Crisis Management Protocol • Remove the participants from danger • Contact local authorities to start handling the situation. • Call police, medical personnel, US Embassy, as appropriate. • Call Public Safety at 001-202-319-5111 • Give them the details of the situation. They will coordinate the on-campus response and help you decide what to do next. • Call Frontier MEDEX for assistance in evaluating the situation if there is a medical emergency involved. Submit grades File expense report within 10 days Review program evaluations Final report and budget review Recommended: Re-entry workshop or event Submit proposal for next year! Responsibilities Upon Return
