Staffing Update Welcome • Michael Stewart, Coordinator for Volunteer Initiatives • Roger Dunn, Program Officer • Kimberly Valimont, Controller Retiring • July Afable, Manager of Accounting and Finance • His last day is February 23rd • July will be filling in on an ad hoc basis until a new person is hired • Please submit January PER ASAP • Staff Accountant position is posted, please refer anyone who may be interested

  4. 2018-19 Grants Process Timeline- Competitive • Disregard the Fiscal Survey that CNCS sent out • Clarification for Continuations: Friday, March 2 - Thursday, March 15, 2018 • Clarification for New/Recompeting: Wednesday, March 28 – Thursday, April 5, 2018 • Results of the competition announced: Monday, May 15, 2018 • Resolution for all successful applicants (New/Recompete and Continuation): Dates TBD For programs recompeting next year • Late July/early August: 2019-2020 grants process will begin with the MSA RFP release for concept papers

  5. 2018-19 Grants Process Timeline- Formula Formula timeline • Not anticipating an additional Formula process this year • Notifications in May or June • Formula continuations due to PO in spring, check with your PO for draft deadline (March/April) * the timing of this and the competitive process are dependent on the federal budget approval process and the finalized budget

  6. Compliance: NSCHC Updates • Taken together, MSA’s programs are not anywhere close to 100% compliance again this year • Only a few 100% compliant so far • Disallowance • Your amount for 17-18 will be calculated in early March, we will be using most recent Member Tracking document, please review last submission • Once we issue final disallowance amounts programs will have 30 days to dispute their amount

AmeriCorps Week AmeriCorps week is March 11th - 17th • Share your AmeriCorps Week plan and/or any pictures or local news articles with your PO • Thank the partners and funders that make your service possible  • Invite partners or those you’d like to be your partners to serve with you for a day  • Share posts with the #AmeriCorpsWorks and #IamAmeriCorps as your hashtags • CNCS resources: • AmeriCorps Week basic info: http://www.nationalservice.gov/programs/americorps/americorps-week • Marketing guide:https://www.nationalservice.gov/sites/default/files/documents/2012_impact_guide_lowres_0.pdf

TTA Update • CIF • Member Trainings • MPF hosting a training on March 8th titled What We Bring: White Youth Workers in Communities of Color • Funding still available; please submit proposals • Evaluation Cohorts • April 17 – July 13 • October 11 – December 15 • Contact PO if interested; provide rationale for participating • National Volunteer Week • April 15 – 21 • MSA is funding 11 projects

  9. 2018 Upcoming Conferences • National Service Training Conferences • North Central: March 19-21 in Chicago, IL • Atlantic/Southern: April 30 – May 2 in Greenville, SC • Pacific/Southwest: May 14-16 in Seattle, WA • Registration open for all but Seattle • More information here: http://www.nationalservicetraining.org • New England Conference: May 22-23 in Concord, NH (more info to come) • Programs should have funds in their budget to attend

MSA Updates • FY19Budget Update • The President’s proposed budget eliminates funding for CNCS, but we are confident the cuts will not happen due to the strong bi-partisan support for AmeriCorps • The Governor has release the FY19 budget proposal and MSA is participating in conversations with legislators about the amount that has been allocated to MSA • Senate confirmed Barbara Stewart as CNCS CEO • Mid-year Progress Report • Link to form will be sent mid-March, due on 4/17 • PER/FSR also due 4/17 • Increasing our social media engagement • Shorter and more frequent newsletters • Please forward any local news articles about your program and/or any other content

  11. Service Year Alliance Update • 8 Programs participating • Overall budget of ~ 95K • Launching in early March • All programs: please update your position descriptions by February 28th

FY18 Site Visit Season • Risk Assessments being completed now • Informational Site Visit Webinar: Tuesday, February 27th at 11:00 AM • Site visits typically March-May • All programs: one visit during three-year cycle • New programs: site visit in first year • Administered according to risk level determined in Risk Assessment • Programmatic and Fiscal • To hold MSA and programs accountable to the AmeriCorps grant provisions • To strengthen the field by sharing best practices between programs • To identify the fiscal and programmatic compliance issues programs may not be aware of and to offer technical assistance

Common Compliance Findings Last Year’s Findings to note: • Position descriptions do not fully identify positions as AmeriCorps service, missing AmeriCorps in position title, logos, etc. • Documentation of data and data collection tools unavailable • Employment/work terminology in materials rather than service • Members do not receive personal/professional development beyond training for activities • Formal member supervision not occurring • Stakeholders not involved in continuous improvement • Member time sheets (dates and signatures), or non-compliant electronic time keeping system • Returning members supervising other members
