Certification Of Educators • Certificates • Beginning Educator Certificate (BEC) • Experienced Educator Certificate (EEC) -3 years’ experience • Intern (issued for duration of plan up to 3 years) • Master Teacher • Paraprofessional (optional) • Renewable every 3 years (except Professional Certificates and Life Certificates issued prior to 1976)

  3. Endorsements Teacher • Examples: Chemistry, Physics, Elementary • Grades included (N-3, K-8, K-12, 5-8, 5-9, 5-12, 7-12) Specialist • Examples: Guidance Counselor, Media Generalist • Grades included (K-12) Administrator • Examples: Superintendent, Principal, Special Education Administrator • Grades included (K-12)

  4. Certification Alternatives I In-state II Out-of-state III Competency IV Plan (1 - 3 years) V Plan (1 - 2 years)

  5. Alternative I • Completion of teacher education program approved by the NH State Board of Education • 13 NH teacher preparation institutions/programs ** PRAXIS I and II if applicable **

  6. Alternative II • Completion of teacher education program approved by another state or • Qualifying experience under certificates in states participating with NH in the Interstate Certification Contract or • Alternative programs in other states • **PRAXIS I and II if applicable **

  7. Alternative III • Demonstrated Competencies and Equivalent Experiences • 3 months experience required in subject area • Written documentation/examples of work • Oral review board • **PRAXIS I and II if applicable**

  18. Re-certificationEmployed Educators 1. All employed educator renewal forms sent to SAU March , 2003 2. Renewal form signed by Superintendent based on completion of professional development plan 3. $80 fee (usually provided by candidate) and renewal form submitted • Must be postmarked prior to July 1, 2002 • After June 30, 2002 – late fee applies

  19. PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION • Educators teaching under a Professional Certificate must be a part of Master Plan but DO NOT need to be recertified.

  20. Educators Not EmployedUnder A Master Plan • 75 Hours minimum • New requirement for plan submittal • Transition to district plans
