Ford Background • Design, develop, manufacture, sales and service of cars, trucks and service parts • Vehicles include cars for the small, medium, and large and premium segments, trucks, buses, vans, full-size pickups, sports utility vehicles, and vehicles for the medium and heavy segments • Provides products and services through the operations of Ford North America, Ford South America, Ford Europe, Premier Automotive Group, and Ford Asia Pacific and Africa/Mazda segments

The Ordering Process • Developed a database that includes the orders being made and the warehouses, suppliers and parts involved. • Helps identify certain characteristics through queries such as the speed or quality of suppliers • Benefits of the database: • Help make quicker decisions • Minimize redundancy • Inevitably improve efficiency

  9. Managers use this query table to see which suppliers are supplying the most products to each warehouse. It helps management identify which suppliers do the most business with Ford. This information assists managers in the decision making process of choosing the suppliers who offer the best products and service. This query provides information that may assist managers in deciding what suppliers they may potentially weed out. This query is formed from information from the part and supplier tables. Products Received from Suppliers with Speed Rates of 6 or Less

  13. Managers use this very specific query to identify the companies supplying seat systems and for what price. This query provides value to the firm because they can use it to compare prices and ultimately reduce the cost of inputs. This query uses information from the supplier and part tables.
