    2. República Militar (1964-1985) O golpe militar (31/03/1964): Combater a corrupção e a subversão (comunismo). A intervenção militar era anunciada como passageira: “golpe, limpeza e retorno aos quartéis”. O Ato Institucional nº 1 (AI-1): que estabelecia eleições indiretas para o próximo Presidente da República e dava ao Executivo Federal, durante seis meses, poderes para cassar mandatos, suspender direitos políticos, modificar a constituição e decretar o estado de sítio.
