What is Adjunct Study Skills ? Adjunct Study Skills is designed to provide students from a specific course – like Political Science or Psychology – with learning strategies and small group instruction to help students be more successful in their classes.
And… By learning how to learn in context, students can better adapt to different learning situations in academic and career settings.
TELL ME MORE ! • Learn strategies to improve your note taking, reading and test taking, and begin applying them immediately! • Discover your own learning style!
And more… • Learn effective strategies for dealing with everyday problems that may interfere with efforts to succeed in college such as time management.
What’s required?? • Enroll for .5 unit credit or 21 total hours • Complete a Learning Strategies Inventory online • Attend at least 10 of the 12 group tutoring sessions • Compete at least eight hours labs/workshops • Meet with Adjunct Instructor at least once • Meet with Content Instructor at least once
What would I do in the Academic Support Lab? • Complete an online Learning Styles Inventory • Meet with Adjunct Instructor • Attend workshops
Work on improving your skills • improving motivation • time management • goal setting • textbook reading • note taking strategies • test taking • concentration and memory • critical thinking
WHAT ELSE?? Group tutoring will : • help you understand key concepts • learn to predict test questions • increase your communication skills • feel better prepared to take tests
