The membership director originally performed the duties of the events coordinator and the communication coordinator, but the work needed to be divided. The Web site coordinator, Todd Summers, was added this year when we decided that we could reach more potential members by having a Web site. 11. Duties of the Preservation Director Maintain list of all coasters removed from parks
Maintain detailed record of coaster relocation sites and dates
Maintain list of parks interested in purchasing operable older coasters
Educate public on preservation of older coasters
Sometimes older roller coasters are purchased by other amusement parks, moved, refurbished, and then reopened. Renovating a roller coaster with a proven record of operation is frequently less expensive than building a new coaster.
