Florida Graduation Requirements • Assessments • Passing Score Required • FSA ELA Gr 10 *** • Algebra 1 EOC *** • Score becomes 30% of overall course grade. • Geometry • Biology • US History *** Comparable scores are allowed on the SAT & ACT for ELA and on the PSAT for Alg 1 EOC • Credits • 4 English • 4 Math • 3 Science (Including Biology) • 3 Social Studies (Including W History, US History, Government, Economics) • Practical/Performing Art • HOPE (PE) • 8 Electives • Minimum of 24 Total Credits
Graduation Testing Requirements • Florida students entering grade 9 in 2018 and beyond must pass the following assessments for high school graduation. • Algebra 1 EOC – taken in May of the year the student completes Algebra 1 or Algebra 1B • Level 3 or higher is considered a passing score • FSA ELA Grade 10 – taken in May of the 10th grade year. • Level 3 or higher is considered a passing score • Students may achieve concordant scores on PSAT, SAT, or ACT for the Alg 1 EOC and on the SAT or ACT for the FSA ELA Grade 10

Florida High School Diplomas • Diploma Types • Standard Diploma – 24 credit, 2.0 GPA, and pass 10th gr ELA and Algebra 1 EOC (or comparable scores) • Merit Diploma – Standard Diploma plus one or more industry certification • Scholar Diploma – Standard Diploma plus passing scores on 10th gr ELA, Geo EOC, Bio EOC, and US History EOC, pass Chemistry or Physics, Statistics or equally rigorous course, receive 2 credits in the same world language, and receive a credit in an AP or IB class.

Polk State Dual Enrollment • Eligibility for DE • Students must have… • 6 high school credits and enrolled in grades 10 - 12 • Unweighted high school GPA of 3.0 • Approval from school counselor • Passing scores on Reading, Writing, and Math PERT • Complete the PSC online admission application. • Take all sections of PERT at one of the PSC campuses. • Take the online PSC Orientation. • Submit the Course Approval Request Form to the Guidance Office.

Community Service Community service is when a student identifies a social issue in the community and then looks beyond themselves to work to improve or solve that issue faced by our society. In order to qualify for Bright Futures and many other scholarships, students must complete Community Service Hours.
Community ServiceBright Futures Scholarship http://www.floridastudentfinancialaid.org/SSFAD/PDF/BFhandbookChapter1.pdf Service hours can include, but are not limited to, a business or governmental internship, a nonprofit organization, or activities on behalf of a candidate for public office. Hours must be documented in writing, and signed by the student, the student’s parent or guardian, and a representative of the organization (i.e. The Community Service Application).
Community Service Bright Futures Scholarship • Community Service Hours must be submitted for posting prior to the student’s graduation date. No hours can be submitted after the student’s graduation date. • Florida Academic Scholars—100 Community Service Hours • Florida Medallion Scholars—75 Community Service Hours • Florida Gold Seal Vocational—30 Community Service Hours
Community Service Procedures Complete appropriate paperwork (Student Application, Parent Approval Form, and the Agency Application) and return to the Community Service Coordinator (Ms. Benner)for approval. Forms can be emailed or picked up from the Counselor’s office. Please see Ms. Benner. Upon approval, the student may begin logging service hours on the Record of Volunteer Service Hours form. Once hours have been completed students must complete a Community Service plan form that describes the social problem being served, the plan for personal involvement, and a final evaluation of the service experience.
