RM2A Understanding Schematic Diagrams
What are Schematic Diagrams? SCHEMATIC DIAGRAMS are drawings of circuit connections that show what part connects to another part. The Schematic Diagram is like a map that you can follow when trying to build a circuit.
Schematic Diagrams are composed of SYMBOLS! In order to understand how to read a schematic diagram’ you must first know the parts which are represented as SYMBOLS in a Schematic . Remember that in MODULE 1 we covered the term “POLARITY” which means that a component has a NEGATIVE and a POSITIVE terminal.
Schematic Diagram Symbols: On the next few slides, you will see some of the symbols used in Schematic Diagrams. On the LEFT side, you will see a SCHEMATIC diagram. On the RIGHT side you will see a PICTORIAL of the same part. Try to commit these symbols and parts to memory. You will use these throughout your robotic experience.
