The Assemblies and Senate • The Assemblies • The most democratic portion of Roman gov. • All citizens could vote here • Wealthy citizens’ votes counted more than those of the poor • They elected officials (representatives) and passed laws • The Senate • Like an oligarchy • Chosen from the richest and most famous Romans • Advised the other parts of the gov. • Most powerful part of Roman gov.
