Dean McGee Eye Institute • one of the largest ophthalmology institutes in the United States • over 150,000 patient visits each year. • Large referral area - 40% of patients are from outside the Oklahoma City metro area. • Devoted to indigent care - >$1,000,000 of uncompensated care to needy Oklahomans • You will experience a wide variety of pathology as DMEI is the referral center for Oklahoma and parts of Texas and Arkansas

  9. Presbyterian Hospital • adult hospital associated with OU Medical Center • only level 1 trauma center in the city

  10. VA • The referral center for all of Oklahoma and parts of Texas and Arkansas • All surgical ophthalmology in the state is referred to OKC • 3 months every year are spent at the VA

  11. Children’s Hospital and Clinic • State children’s hospital • Brand new eye clinic • Provide vision screening clinics • Participate in ROP exams with Dr. Siatkowski

  12. McGee Eye Surgery Center • Purely dedicated to ophthalmic surgery • 5 rooms running cases every day • Staff, nurses, technicians and anesthesiologists dedicated to eye surgery • Approximately 5,000 cases performed per year
