Workshop objectives • Objectives: • To achieve greater interregional cooperation • To identify the key drivers behind a successful MM project or policy implementation • To identify the successes and missed opportunities of MM projects and policies in your cities • To identify the key transfer mechanisms for influencing decision makers in MM
Workshop rules There’s only 5! Everyone is equal, any point is valid Ask if you don’t understand Be engaged and participate Talk to your neighbours and group Don’t be shy!!
Task 1:Let’s achieve some greaterinterregional cooperation! (10 mins) • Do you know what your country and neighbours look like? • Get talking to your partner!
Task 2: What are the key drivers behind a successful MM project and/or policy? (15 mins) A theoretical exercise
Task 2: What are the key drivers behind a successful MM project and/or policy? What to do: Each table has a selection of cards on the desk labelled “A” Each card represents a driver for implementing MM measures or policy There are also several blank cards for any additional ideas your group comes up with You have 5 minutes as group to rank the top 10 drivers in order of importance, 1 being the most important and 10 the least You must stick these on the board provided Group discussion (10 minutes)
Task 3: What are the successes and missed opportunities of MM projects and policies in your cities and other cities? (30 mins) ‘Real-life’ examples
Task 3: What are the successes and missed opportunities of MM projects and policies? What to do: Each table has two sets of coloured post-its on their table, yellow and red Thinking about MM projects and policies in your cities or other cities (8 minutes): Write on the yellow post-its why projects and policies have been successful Write on the red post-its why projects and policies may have failed or ended early You can discuss these with the group but all your points are valid! Using the boards provided stick the post-its under the success or missed opportunity columns Looking at everyone’s contributions what are the common themes occurring? Rank the top 3 successes and top 3 missed opportunities (8 minutes) Nominate an individual from your group to tell these to the whole workshop (14 minutes)
Task 4: What are the key transfer mechanisms for influencing decision makers in MM? (25 mins) How do we turn this light bulb on? TRANSFER MECHANISMS: ways of sharing experience with decision makers
Task 4: What are the key transfer mechanisms for influencing decision makers in MM? What to do: Each table has a sheet with a list of transfer mechanisms and a set of blue post-its Discuss in your group examples how any of these mechanisms have been successfully used to influence a decision maker? (10 minutes) Write these on the blue post-its and stick up on the Task 4 board under each mechanism If you can think of a different mechanism write this on the board Each participant has 5 stickers or tokens – using these vote on which transfer mechanisms you think are most important for influencing decision makers (5 minutes) Group discussion (10 minutes)
