Psalm 51 1 Have mercy on me, O God,according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions.2 Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I know my transgressions and my sin is always before me.4 Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight;so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge.
5 Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me. 6 Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb; you taught me wisdom in that secret place.
7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. 8 Let me hear joy and gladness;let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
9 Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity. 10 Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
5 STEPS TO FORGIVE PEOPLE
If we don’t release them, it leaves the door open for this pain to follow us into our next season. Ephesians 4:27 (NIV) says,” Do not give the devil a foothold.”
1. You must decide to forgive those who have hurt you. (Matthew 6:14-15) 14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
We don’t forgive others for THEIR benefit. We forgive for our benefit.
2. You must pray for them. Matthew 5:44 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
3.You must bless them. To bless someone means to speak well of them and want good things for them. You don’t have to call them up and speak a blessing, just simply refuse to talk unkindly about those who hurt you. (Matthew 5:44)
4. Stop talking about the pain they caused you. (Romans 12:19)19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord Don’t keep talking about what your enemies did; it only keeps the pain stirred up in you.
Don’t keep talking about what your enemies did; it only keeps the pain stirred up in you.
5. Pray with groans that cannot be uttered- until the pain goes away. (Romans 8:26) 26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.
When unforgiveness is in our hearts it causes a constant battle that we have to face. When we allow it, unforgiveness will become BITTERNESS.
