EXECUTIVE SUMMARY 1. Solar canopies would be constructed in 2 parking lots at SHS. 2. These canopies will generate 476,000 kWh per year. As a comparison, Bigelow used 483,000 kWh last year. SHS used 3,400,000 kWh. 3. The City’s and School Dept.’s interests will be protected by a lease and PPA developed by the City Law Dept. and Dept. of Public Facilities. 4. An approval letter from the school committee is needed to enable the mayor to get authorization to negotiate a lease for the construction of parking canopies at South High School.
