  3. Setup Schedule • RHIC Schedule set for Nov 1 Start-Up From: "Vigdor, Steven" <vigdor@bnl.gov>Date: October 5, 2007 12:11:58 PM EDTSubject: RHIC run startup Based on the information I have available right now, I have decided that we should proceed with the November 1 startup of the RHIC FY08 run… It is clear that if the CR situation is resolved, the Nov. 1 startup minimizes the total cost of a 30-cryoweek run, as it avoids a November period with non-productive time initiated by a startup delay, and it avoids the considerably greater power costs projected for June 2008.  This gives us greater flexibility, in the case of a suitable budget, to meet other commitments in addition to the run. It appears possible to find a way to run into the month of March with a Nov. 1 startup, under CR. If Congress has not passed FY08 budgets by March, it may well be that all of FY08 will be handled by a CR. We will simply have to keep a close eye on the funding situation as the run progresses, and remain flexible about the timing of a changeover between d+Au and p+p.
