Pre-Plan Your Project! WHO WHAT WHERE WHY WHEN
Parents, has your son talked to his Eagle Advisor?
The Eagle Project Getting Started • The project is to be done “While a life Scout….” • Get a copy of the Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project Workbook • Get a notebook and record events as they happen. • Plan, Organize, Plan, Direct, Plan, and Lead!
The Eagle Project • Selecting an Eagle Project: • The project must demonstrate YOUR leadership to others • Choose a project that you will be proud of for the rest of your life. • What will you say twenty years from now when someone asks you about your project?
The Eagle Project • Selecting an Eagle Project: • The project is to be: “…helpful to any religious institution, any school, or your community….” • The Organization must be non-profit. • The project should be of Significant Magnitude to be special and represent the candidate’s best possible efforts.
The Eagle Project • Pre-Planning: • With the help of your Troop leaders and your Troop Eagle Advisor…agree on a project - the concept must be approved by your troop committee • Begin detail planning and initial project write-up • Your write-up may be typed on a typewriter or computer, or may be hand written.
Write Up Your Project!
The Eagle Project • The Project Write-Up: • Neat … appearance is important • Eliminate the text boxes and white-space • Use single space - minimize the number of pages to be copied • Proper grammar - No typos or misspelled words. You will need an editor, someone to help you improve the written communication, so use your Eagle Advisor

The Eagle Project • Safety: • List precautions that must be taken and any safety concerns: • Use of power tools • Emergency contact phone numbers • Readily available drinking water • Scheduled breaks • Ventilation when painting • Protective equipment, Etc. Where is the first aid kit? Who is the trained first aid person?
