Direct Quotes EXACTLY what a person says Adds different opinions and perspectives. LEGITIMIZES the information. It cannot be interpreted or reflected upon. It is precise.
Indirect Quotes Translates the information into a different form Calls for interpretation – less trustable. Be certain if you rewrite any quote – KEEP INFORMATION IDENTICAL.
WHY use an indirect quote? If the source is very technical – and difficult to interpret or understand.
WHY use an indirect quote? If the source keeps speaking for a LONG time – and needs to be edited. No need to repeat the last video again, right?
W use an indirect quote? If the source is unintelligible, or uses VERY poor grammar.
