Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and Title I • We are a Title I School and receive additional federal funding. • Funds are used for Academic Intervention Services (AIS) and a Family Literacy program. • We value your input, suggestions, and concerns related to how we use Title I funds. This is supported by New York State and Federal Regulations. Below are ways to provide feedback. • District Advisory Council is an opportunity to share your thoughts. • Annual evaluation: This is an opportunity to let us know how we can improve parent involvement and academic quality. • You may also provide feedback using the form on the school website • Please visit the ESSA page. Band & Orchestra • Small-group lessons start next week *First lesson sheets went home today. *Student responsibilities: 1. Remembering to go to lesson at the righttime 2. Homework • Usually Monday through Thursday • Mainly Spelling, Language Arts & Math • No more than 45 – 60 minutes per night • Please monitor your child’s homework, but encourage independence • Write me a note if difficulties occur • Late Homework = Loss of Classroom $
Rewards & Consequences Turn-A-Card System *Reward for being here and doing what is expected *Opportunity to set personal goals and save money *Swap & Auction –basic financial skills, like earning, saving, spending, and selling *Accountability Group Prize Points *Reward for working well as a team *Gives groups a prize on Friday for having the most points STOP sheet *Reflect on behavior and how to right the wrong *Parent signature *May require principal signature
Classroom Groups • 4 students per group • Change groups & seat assignments once per month • Teamwork and being a good teammate • Seating Mat • Partner work/discussion
P.A.T. • Personal Activity Time • 30 minutes at the end of each week • Students may do a fun activity of their choosing (toys from home) • Incentive to finish incomplete classwork • Catch-Up & Relish: 40 minutes Friday morning
