Main Activities in 2006http://www.cm.nctu.edu.tw/~IEEEITComSoc/ • 1/20~1/21:Spring Workshop on Information Theory & Communications, Tainan • 9 invited speeches (two from USA) for 261 attendees • 8/7~8/11: Summer School for Communications, Hsin Chu • Objective: To give the new communication-major graduates (or graduates from other fields who wish to learn about communications) an introductory training course in various subjects of communications so as to lower their barrier to enter this field. • 5 whole-day courses by 7 renowned professors for 250 graduates • 8/28~8/29:Taiwan-Hong Kong Joint Workshop on Information Theory & Communications, Hsin Chu • 10 invited speeches (three from Hong Kong) for 226 attendees • 12/11,13,15: IEEE ComSoc & SPS Taipei Chapter, Distinguished Lectures, Prof. Kong Max Wang (McMaster Univ, Canada) • 200 attendees • 2006 Best Paper Award for Young Scholars by IEEE ComSoc Taipei/Tainan Chapters & IT Chapter • NT$50,000 awarded to Prof. Hsiao-Feng (Francis) Lu with Nat’l Chung-Cheng Univ
