  1. Desert Biome By: Jake Murphy, Kyle Forman, and Antonio Torres

  2. Plant life • The main types of plants that can survive in the American deserts are Cacti. • Other types of plants include brittle brush, the Joshua tree, Ocotillo, and the desert ironwood. All of which include a system of defense against predators. Their defense is thousands of sharp needles.

  3. Plants • All of the plants listed have adapted to the little to none water what is present in the desert. Some of the plants have a hollow inside where they can store water. This is important because of the harsh climate. Theses plants can go months with out getting more water

  4. Animals • Although the desert is a harsh climate, Many animals have adapted to be able to live in it. • Some of which include the Bobcat , The Armadillo lizard, The Banded Gila Monster , and the Coyote

  5. Animals • All of these animals listed are good Hunters. They each have a different way to detect food or if they are in any sort of danger. These animals have to be very fast because some animals being hunted are rabbits or anything slow enough for a quick meal . There are other animals like the Tortoise, which are slow because the pray they stalk are just plants

  6. Climate • The average rain fall is less that 1 inch per year. Most deserts are dry deserts. The type of deserts are formed by a high pressure zone. This causes cold air to descend and warm up. The water vapor is heated and evaporates before it can come down as rain.

  7. Climate • The average temperature of the sand is about 70*F. The sand can get up to about 100*f and this is because sand is super heated buy the sun and it releases this heat. There is not a lot of Atmosphere to protect these parts of the planet from the intense heat of the sun.
