Iron • Used to iron clothes (laundry) • Used to “press as you sew” …never sew over a seam with another seam until you have pressed it. • Pressing is an up and down motion • Ironing is a sliding motion • Cotton and linen are pressed on high • Nylon and synthetics are pressed on low • Use only distilled water in an iron to prevent rust spots

  12. Bobbin case • Holds the bobbin

  13. Pinking Shears • Used to trim excess fabric for a clean finished edge. • They haveZig- zag teeth • Only use on fabric

Transparent Ruler, Rotary cutter, and Rotary mat. • Transparent ruler is used to hold down your fabric and give you a straight edge…it guides the rotary cutter and helps protect your fingers • Rotary Cutter looks like a pizza cutter and is used to cut fabric. • The mat is self healing • Only cut fabric usinga rotary cutter on top of a rotary mat.

  16. Pressing Cloth • Use when pressing to protect your fabric and iron. • Prevents shinny spots forming on dull fabric • Keeps shinny fabric shinny
