What is International Baccalaureate (IB)? IB Diploma Program was started in Switzerland in 1968, with objective to provide a challenging yet balanced education that would facilitate geographic and cultural mobility by providing internationally recognized university entrance qualifications The Middle Years Program was introduced in 1994. In 1992, Myers Park High School was the 1st public high school in NC to offer the IB Diploma Program; and, later became the first school in the USA (public or private) to offer both the IB Middle Years and Diploma Programs. MISSION STATEMENT:International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

What is Service as Action Enables students to enhance their personal and interpersonal development by learning through experience. • Requirement of Middle Years Program • Think of CAS as an opportunity for the student to engage in a cause that is meaningful to them • Through continued commitment to a specific cause, students not only fulfill the requirement, more importantly, they grow personally. • The experience can be an important element on their college resume or a source of inspiration for the MYP Personal Project , DP Extended Essay or college application essay
