  2. Professional Tourism EducationMinistry of Tourism Apart from the Ministry of Education, professional tourism education and vocational training is also provided by the Ministry of Tourism. Under the supervision of the Ministry of Tourism operate: • Vocational Schools • Institutes for Vocational Training • Advanced Schools of Tourism Education

  4. Higher EducationAdvanced Schools of Tourism Education Two Training Centers: • Advanced School of Tourism Education of Rhodos, Dodecanese (A.S.T.E.R) • Advanced School of Tourism Education of Agios Nikolaos, Crete (A.S.T.E.A.N)

Organizational Structure Advanced Schools of Tourism Education • Studies last 3 ½ years (6 semesters + I semester of thesis & placement) 1st Year October-January February-June July-September 1st semester 2nd semester placement 2nd Year October-January February-June July-September 3rd semester 4th semester placement 3rd Year October-January February-June September-January 5th semester 6th semester dissertation & placement

  7. Organizational Structure Advanced Schools of Tourism Education • Graduates of the ASTER & ASTEAN are prepared for advanced executive posts in the hospitality industry. They have the same professional rights as the graduates of the Technological Education Institutes (TEI), specialization Tourism Management of the Ministry of Education (they have recently been merged in the departments of Management) • In reality, the curriculums between the ASTER & ASTEAN (Ministry of Tourism) and the Departments of Tourism Management of TEI (Ministry of Education) have a lot of similarities. • Main Advantage of ASTER & ASTEAN: Total of 3 placement trimesters.

Advanced Schools of Tourism EducationModules • Introduction to Tourism, Principles of Management, Principles of Economics, Economic Mathematics Culinary Art, Restaurant Techniques, Housekeeping, Introduction to P.C's • Commercial Food Production, Bar-Beverages-Oenology, Food & Beverage Management, Statistics, Principles of Accounting • F & B Operations Management, Front Office Operations, Tourism Economics, Architecture-Hotel Assets, Business Accounting, Introduction of Law, Optional Modules: Tourism Sociology or Tourism Psychology • Main Courante, Hotel Logistics, Greek Tourism Geography, Human Resources Management, English Tourism Terminology, 2nd Foreign Language Tourism Terminology • Hospitality Marketing, Financial Management, Tourism Law, Hospitality Management, Hotel Assets Management, Intercultural Education and Communication in Tourism, Optional Modules: Tourism Market Research or Tourism Consumer Behaviour • Business Tourism, Promotion of Tourism Product, Operations in Hotel Logistics, Entrepreneurship, Career seminar, Hotel Animation, Optional Modules: Tourism Development or Tourism Policy

  9. Advanced Schools of Tourism Education • Graduates of ASTER & ASTEAN have the right to subscribe to the 6th semester of TEI and get a degree from a third-level Institution.

  11. Post-Secondary Vocational Training • High-school graduates (with no age limit) • Admission after selection procedure (eg foreign language competence) • Duration of studies: 2 years (4 semesters) • Duration of Placement: 6 months (3 months per year) • 7 training centers

Secondary Technical Vocational Education • Graduates of at least the 1st class of high school (age limit: 23 years old) • Admission after selection procedure (eg foreign language competence) • Duration of studies: 2 years • Duration of placement: 6 months (3 months per year) • 8 vocational schools
