Why a different master schedule? • Current Schedule: 6 periods, 2 semesters, daily advisory • New Graduation Requirements for Class of 2021 (current 8th grade students) • District waiver for Class of 2019 and 2020 • 24 credits required by the state • Immediate interventions • Personalized Pathway Requirements • Exploration opportunities • ASD Goal – 100% graduation goal

Our Plan • Trimester schedule • 5 period day • 61 minute classes • 0.5 credits per trimester, per class • 26 credits required to graduate (potential to earn 31 credits in 4 years) • Continue to include daily advisory – 31 minutes

August 24-25 Freshman Days • August 24: • Family Breakfast, 7:30, AHS Commons • “Bobcat Days” with student pictures, purchase of ASB cards, lockers, schedules, purchase yearbook • August 25: LINK Crew Assembly, 8:00-12:30, Sam Benn Gym • Freshmen will meet their LINK Crew mentors and participate in a class wide activity
Activities and Athletics • Nearly 20 sports across three seasons • Music and drama • ASB, LINK Crew, RAT – advisory and beyond • CTSO’s: SkillsUSA, FBLA, FFA • 21st Century Before and After School Program includes several clubs: Art, Robotics, Dance, ASL
How can families be involved at AHS? • Attend school events • Concerts, sporting events, musical, Foodballevents • Participate in these events: • Freshman family breakfast, student conferences (October 18, 19 and January 29, 30) • Bobcat Booster Club and/or Music Boosters • Mock Interviews (sophomores); Business Week (juniors); Senior Boards (seniors) • Field trip and dance chaperones
How can you support your student at AHS? • Keep them involved in activities • Check Skyward for attendance and grades regularly • Utilize the after school program • Stay in contact – communicate with the teachers, counselor or administration if there is a concern or question • Use the website • Encourage appropriate use of school technology
