How do students benefit? Students can accelerate their academic studies by earning college credit without sacrificing their high school experience. The courses included in the program are those most often required in the freshman coursework of Washington’s community colleges and universities, thus shortening the time it takes to earn a degree. Each advanced high school course in the program has been deemed equivalent to the work performed in a similar EvCC course. Upon successful completion the course is transcripted with the college’s course title and number, just as it appears in the college catalog.
How do students benefit? Tuition for a CHS 5-credit course is typically 50% less than an equivalent EvCC course and the textbooks are included. A significant savings to the student! The courses may enable students to meet prerequisites for more advanced classes in college. Students may have a stronger university application by demonstrating above-average motivation and achievement. The program helps develop academic skills while demonstrating to students the potential benefits of college and exposing them to the expectations of postsecondary education.
