CONTEXT • 2000 GOVERNMENT WHITE PAPER “OUR COUNTRYSIDE – THE FUTURE” • to take action to improve the quality of life in an area through practical projects • To manage change and address local needs through the planning process • To bid for funding for local initiatives and to encourage effective partnership working • To help influence the Parish Council and other statutory bodies in their planning, service delivery etc • To enhance the Parish Council’s community leadership role

THE PROCESS • Parish Council set up Steering Committee • Consultation process widely communicated by flyer, email • Planning for Real weekend event • Questionnaire distribution and completion • 261 responses = 81% return rate • Professional analysis of questionnaire • Development of Thematic Action Plans

  4. THE THEMES • HOUSING • FACILITIES AND SERVICES • ROAD SAFETY AND TRANSPORT • YOUNG PEOPLE • EDUCATION AND TRAINING • LEISURE • TOURISM • ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINIBILITY • CRIME AND SAFETY • THE LOCAL ECONOMY

THE WAY FORWARD • FINAL PLAN TO BE PRODUCED TAKING INTO ACCOUNT OUTCOMES OF CONSULTATION WITH PARISH COUNCIL, VILLAGE HALL COMMITTEE, PARISHIONERS & SERVICE PROVIDERS • FORMALLY SUBMITTED TO PARISH COUNCIL FOR ADOPTION – FEBRUARY 2012 • COMMUNITY LED PLANS TO NEIGHBOURHOOD PLANS • ENGAGEMENT TO EMPOWERMENT • A SHARED VISION OF WHAT OUR COMMUNITY SHOULD BE LIKE • HARNESSING VOLUNTEER POWER AND GOOD CITIZENSHIP TO DELIVER THE VISION
