The University of Kentucky owns a rich tradition of excellence in collegiate athletics, both in the teams it fields and in the student-athletes that participate. At the University of Kentucky, the Athletics Association sponsors 22 varsity sports that compete at the Division I level in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

The UK Dynasty • UK is one of only seven universities in the U.S. that have programs in agriculture, engineering, law, medicine, and pharmacy on a single campus • The William T. Young Library, opened in 1998, already has assumed a position among the world’s leading research libraries; its book endowment is the largest among public universities. The library measures 365,000 square feet and seats 4,000 people. • UK’s $1.4 billion annual budget makes it Kentucky’s ninth largest corporation. • Students represent 117 countries, all 50 states and every county in Kentucky. • Since 1997, UK's enrollment has grown by 2,700 to over 28,094 students. This enrollment, combined with UK’s 11,000-person workforce, makes UK the equivalent of Kentucky’s sixth largest city
