  2. Questions … The U.S. Air Force was founded in September 1947. When was AFA founded? The AFA first meeting was in November 1945, and AFA was founded in February 1946, as directed by Gen Hap Arnold to Gen Jimmy Doolittle. Among its founders were Cpl Julian Rosenblatt, Jimmy Stewart, Ron Reagan, Jack Warner. Generals, colonels, second looies, top-kicks and buck privates are all just plain "Mister" in AFA." (AFA's first President, Jimmy Doolittle, May, 1947)

  5. Questions … Who sponsors the Pitsenbarger Awards for our CCAF Airmen? The Air Force Association has awarded over $1.5 million in individual awards to outstanding graduates of the CCAF to use as they wish.

  6. Questions … What organization originated the idea of the Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force? Yup, the Air Force Association originated the idea and then worked to get the office established to give a formal voice for our enlisted force at the highest levels of Air Force leadership.

  7. Questions … The AF Honor Guard is a focal point of the magnificent Air Force Memorial in Washington DC. Who is responsible for creating the AF Memorial? That’s right – it began as another AFA project. The Air Force Memorial was dedicated in 2006.

The force behind the force – The Air Force Association.   12. AFA supports educational opportunity and awards for Air Force members and others through a variety of innovative programs designed to help you achieve your educational goals. These include national scholarships and other scholarship opportunities. AFA also sponsors the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Program (STEM) in cooperation with its over 200 local chapters. This program alone has impacted over 13 million students and approximately 24,000 teachers. AFA sponsors “Teacher of the Year” awards and also administers a national grant program for K-12 teachers as well as J-ROTC and Civil Air Patrol instructors. AFA sponsors a wide variety of National Awards for activities such as National Aerospace and Special Awards as well as other awards recognizing AFA members, individuals and units, as well as other academic awards.
