BHOOCHETANA- Impact KHARIF 2009
Accelerated Pulses Production Programme (A3P) • Constraints: • Monsoon dependant & about 95% is under rain fed • Cultivated in marginal or low fertile lands • Mostly grown as Inter-crop / mixed crops • Non-availability of hybrids/HYVs • Biotic stress of pod borer (heliothis) • Not considered as commercial / cash crop • Objectives • To increase the productivity of pigeon pea in one lakh hectare in Gulbarga, & Bidar district through better seed supply, nutrient management, IPM & Market support. • Interventions: • Better seed supply management. • To promote transplanting in Redgram • Protective irrigation with micro and sprinkler sets • Training of farmers by scientists • IPDM, Soil Test Result Based INM, Mechanization , FFS – Farm Facilitators. • Formation of Commodity groups • Credit support and micro finance with NABARD & Market support through NCDEX. • Educational Tours & Exposure Visits • Procurement, Value Addition & Marketing through KTAML, NCDEX, NCML, etc
Accelerated Oilseed Production Programme (AOPP) • Constraints: • Cultivated mostly as rain fed crops. • Lack of availability of HYV • Lack of micro-nutrients & Gypsum application • Biotic stress – stem rot, bud necrosis & RHHC • Poor marketing facilities. • Objectives: • To increase the productivity of Groundnut in one lakh hectares (Chitradurga & Tumkur District) and 0.50 lakh hectares of Soyabean (Dharwad & Belgaum district). • To promote improved technology practices • To improve the economic conditions of the farmers. • Interventions • To arrange for supply of better quality seeds • Adoption of INM & IPDM practices • Encourage inter cropping with pigeon pea • Provide micro-irrigation facilities • Mechanization- seed cum fertilizer drill, decorticator, harvestors, steppers etc. • Better market linkage through NCDEX
Accelerated Rice Production Programme (ARPP) • Major Constraints: • Rice is grown as rain fed crop in 80% area of the selected 7 NFSM districts. • Soils are laterites, high acidic and less fertile. • Deficient in nutrients such as P, K, Ca, Mg & Zn. • Toxicity of Fe, Al & Mn. • High incidence of Gall midge & Blast. • Uneven terrain & labour shortage. • Lack of supply of HYV seeds. • Objectives: • To increase the productivity of Rice by 30% in selected 100 villages. • To manage the soils for increasing nutrient use efficiency. • To provide necessary equipments for farm mechanization. • Promotion of SRI method. • Interventions: • Popularization of HYV & Red Rice varities through better seed supply management. • Promoting in situ green manuring & balanced nutrient management. • Lime application 500 Kg/ha, use of bio-fertilizers & Micro-nutrients (Zn, B, Si). • Mat nursery & Mechanized transplanting & harvesting. • Integrated Pest Management. • Formation of Commodity Interest Groups & organizing FFS through Farm Facilitators.
