He earned his BS in Physics, magna cum laude from the University of Puerto Rico in 1982, and completed his Ph.D in Applied Physics from Catholic University of America, Washington, DC in 1990. Juan Arvelo is a skilled Technical Writer, Proofreader and Editor who has published his own patents, technical reports, book chapters and research publications. He is an Associate Editor of 2 scientific journals and advisory board member of a technical magazine.
Juan Arvelo md is a Scientist at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, a not-for-profit research and development organization focused on solving various complex problems that present challenges to the country. He is also an Instructor at the Applied Technology Institute for Applied Physical Oceanography and Acoustics: Controlling Physics, Observations, Models and Naval Applications. Past Appointments From 1982 to 1991, Juan Arvelo md served as Physicist in the Acoustic Signal Processing Branch, Underwater Systems Department of the Naval Surface Warfare Center. After that, he spent five years at Alliant Techsystems, Inc. as a Research Scientist in Advanced Technology Applications. Throughout his career, Juan has led a broad range of science and technology efforts at many government and academic institutions.
Skills A knowledgeable individual with extensive technical expertise, Juan Arvelo has learnt many skills over the years, such as system design and performance evaluation, digital signal processing, experimental design & conduct, data analysis and interpretation and development of various mathematical models to study environmental and physical impact on detection and communication systems.
