  2. Maintaining Your Computer System Why? When you turn your computer on, the computer goes through several steps. For example: Detection of hardware Check them with the existing database Check for new hardware Check if the keyboard, mouse and the monitor are connected Check for the disk drives Check for how much memory is available and so on

  3. Maintaining Your Computer System Why? Same when shutting down a computer Active process should be terminated one by one before the PC can be put to rest.

  4. Maintaining Your Computer System Why? Cause Software problems: If the power is cut off to the PC without warning: All files related to the open applications could get corrupted The operating system could get corrupted which could require you to reinstall the entire system again.

  5. Maintaining Your Computer System Why? Will Cause Hardware Problems: If the hard disk was busy writing something, this could lead to a complete loss data. The hard drive could go bad. It could damage RAM

  6. Maintaining Your Computer System Why? Will Cause Software Problems: If the power is cut off to the PC without warning: All files related to the open applications could get corrupted The operating system could get corrupted which could require you to reinstall the entire system again.

  7. Maintaining Your Computer System DO: Regular Scandisk to check the hard disk surface for damage. Start – All Programs – Accessories – Systems Tools – Disk Clean up If your hard drive is damaged, Scandisk will try and fix your problem.

Does not need to be cleaned too often if they are kept in a clean environment Clean the computer when it looks dirty. (2) things that need the most cleaning are the screen and mouse.

Use compressed air to remove paper pieces and dust from under the keys. DO NOT take a keyboard apart! You may not get it back together.
