  2. Aims and Objectives Phase 3 • To encourage take up of information literacy training/qualifications amongst public library staff in North and South Wales • To consult on how this might be done • To develop a network of Information Literacy Champions

Timescales • May - August 2012: Encourage take up of information skills training and qualifications • May – August 2012: hold three awareness days • August 2012: identify Information Literacy champions • September – December 2012: Pilot delivery of information skills in five authorities • December 2012: Identify two pilot projects to deliver information skills training and qualifications to the public via public libraries

  4. WPLS 4: access to facilities and services based on ICT • The following Standards should apply to all service points (including mobile library services) open for more than 10 hours per week • (i) Libraries will ensure that the following ICT facilities are available to users: • (j) Information literacy sessions for users (formal or informal assistance to users in developing or enhancing their use of library services and facilities).

  5. WPLS 8 • Library authorities in Wales shall ensure that at least 23% of the total staff (full‑time equivalent) of the library service will be formally qualified, namely persons holding formal qualifications in librarianship, information science or information management or persons who have completed their qualifying examinations. Staff with qualifications in cognate areas, such as ICT, heritage or leisure management or education and learning may be included in the calculations if they occupy posts on the library staff establishment which require those qualifications, and when the qualifications held are relevant to their current roles and functions within the library service.

  6. The Inspiring Learning for All framework will be used to as part of the evaluation process.
