Postsecondary Testing Requirements • SAT-offered 7 times a year (measures critical Reading, Math & Writing) Scores range 200-800 per section • ACT-offered 6 times a year (measures Reading, English, Math & Science) Scores range 2-36 • Compass-offered monthly @ Technical Schools (measures Reading, Writing & Math)

College Entrance ExamsSAT, ACT or ASSET • SAT-2400: Measures what you know and how well you apply that knowledge. 3 hours 45 minutes/Score range: 200-800 per section/Critical Reading, Math and Writing. • ACT-36:Measures general development & capability to complete college level work. 2 hours 55 minutes w/o writing/Score range:1-36 per section/English, Math, Reading, Science. • ASSET- Technical Schools: A series of short placement test that measures basic reading, numerical, writing plus advanced algebra and geometry/2 hours. (Score depends on program of study) • College Testing & Application Waivers

Pays a percentage amount of tuition. • Zell Miller Scholars: Core GPA 3.7 calculated by GSFC and SAT score of 1200 (CR & M) or ACT 26 on a single test administration.

August 26th 6pm Lakeview Academy • Probe Fair: Thursday, October 14, 2014 6-8pm @ Gainesville Civic Center • Josten & Senior College Visit Day(GSC & Lanier Tech): Wednesday, October 15th • Apply to College Day: Friday, November 14, 2014 • Financial Aid Parent Night— Monday, Jan. 12th 6-7:30pm • EHHS Baccalaureate- May TBA 2015 6:00pm @ Air Line Baptist Church • Graduation- May TBA 2015 at 8pm @ Free Chapel

EHHS College & Technical Admission Procedures Obtain application via internet or counseling office.Apply on-line Preferred. • Visit-Visit-Visitcampuses and college websites & RSVP if required for reservations!! Explore college options. • Have a GAcollege411.org account. • Understand admission factors. • Consult with your high school counselor • Complete application: Early Decision vs. Early Action vs. Regular Admissions • Be aware of Application Deadlines! • Request transcript and learn about SAT or ACT scores • Proof application prior to submission • Apply to more than one school!! • Eat a meal, see a dorm, visit your areas of interest • Formulate 5-10 unique questions to ask college representatives • Attend Probe Fair—October 14 Gainesville Civic Center 6-8pm

Steps to a Successful Application • Rigor- Challenging courses (Honors/Advanced Placement) • Academic Performance/Grades • Test Scores (SAT,ACT, AP): Become familiar with SAT/ACT question types, format and directions! • Avoid Senioritis • Meet with Admission Counselors at the college • Essay: (Opportunity to shine, one small event not entire resume, sound sincere) • Recommendations- Junior or senior teacher • Extracurricular Activities/Interest

Georgia Apply to College Week • EHHS was selected out of 150 applications to participate. • Friday, November 14, 2014 • Seniors will apply to a postsecondary institution using their www.GAcollege411.org account • Public, private and technical schools • Payment options/waivers • Volunteers needed

  14. Financial Aid/Scholarships • Find out about your HOPE status from www.Gacollege411.org • Complete FAFSA form in January 1. • Adhere to college deadlines!! • Parent Night: January 12th 6pm • Scholarships: counseling office, online, PSAT, colleges & universities.

  15. Scholarship Scams • Do not pay any monies toward finding scholarships. • If you did not apply for it do not fall for it!! • EHHS Counseling Department and the Financial Office of a post-secondary school can provide all necessary information for free!

  16. Senior Year Highlights • Keep copies of all components to application • Establish a line of communication with each college in which you apply to. • Ask college admission representatives questions about their institution— • Be patient. Processing applications takes time
