  3. Purpose This workshop is to prepare senior staff to undertake their role in the TAA Scheme process

  4. Aims To provide advisers and assessors with the opportunity to develop a full awareness of the Teacher Advisory and Assessment Scheme and a working knowledge of all the activities sufficientto carry out those activities positively and efficiently

  5. Objectives On completion of this workshop : • Outline official procedures for the implementation of the scheme • Explain the purpose and function of all the TAA activities • Advise teaching staff on the major aspects of the scheme • Advise and/or Assess teaching staff in accordance with the TAA Scheme • Develop an Action Plan for professional and career development

  11. the TAA involves the mutual participation of the new teacher and educational managers who are in a position to advise and assist in the teacher’s development; educational managers who participate in the TAA must be suitably qualified and accredited as assessors; TAA Scheme - Principles

Your Role as Adviser or Assessor To help and advise teachers in their development on a regular basis Discuss the process with the teacher Pre activity meeting 5 days prior to observation Observe one of the teachers normal teaching activities Minimum 1 hour – beginning middle and conclusion Post observation meeting to provide feed back Developing an action plan for ongoing career and professional development

Your Role as Organiser Coordinate the process to ensure: Initiates the process at commencement of service Staged at appropriate time Provides 14 days written notification Nominates appropriate advisor / assessor Advisors and Assessors trained Advisers meet 5 days prior to observation Activity completed in required time frame

Your Role as Reviewing Manager • All assessments are reviewed by a reviewing manager • Carried out in accordance with the guide lines • Assessors appropriately selected • Notification forms • TAA1 Advisory Report TAA2 • Teacher’s Comment • Assessment Report • TAA2 Recommendations • TAA1 & 2 Action Plan • Discuss any relevant aspects with the Adviser / Assessor

Attending a workshop and completing the associated activities, will allow senior staff to meet the mandatory TAA Scheme Policy training requirements to fulfil their obligations as Advisors, Assessors, Discipline Experts, Institute Representatives, Organising Managers and Reviewing Managers.   28.
