  3. When you log in, you land on the basic Search Screen Click here to download the Adobe Reader. You need it to view the full text (PDF).

  4. Select Boolean operators (and / or / not) from this drop-down list. Cick on the arrow on the drop-down list to see all the journals that are included in the Religion Collection.

  5. Enter words or phrases in the data entry box(es). Select an index from the drop-down list. Remember to click on the submit button.

  6. Example of a basic search. Find an article about Christianity written by Floor in any of the journals. 1. Enter the words in the data entry boxes. 2. Select the relevant indexes from the drop-down lists. 4. We want to search across ALL the journals. 3. The article must be about Christianity, AND it must be written by Floor. 5. Click on submit.

  7. You can check what you searched for here. Click on the blue link for more details about the article, or else click on the “full text” button to view the full text. The article appeared in “In die Skriflig.”

  8. If you want to print or E-mail this record, you must first SAVE the record. You can save the record by clicking on the blank box, or on the save buttons.

  9. Try another example: If you want to find out which articles Draper wrote, key in his name, limit on Author, and click on the “submit” button.

  11. Here are the details about the record. Click on this box to save the record. You MUST save the record before you can E-mail it.

  12. Enter your email address here. If you want to send the record to more than one person, use a comma between the email addresses. Add a comment, if you wish.

  13. This is what the full text of the record looks like. You can save a copy of the PDF, print it, or email it. Use the Search option to search in the full-text (PDF) article.

  14. Click on the blue links to move around in the PDF. Click on “New Search” if you want to search for something else in the PDF.

  15. This is the Advanced Search Screen. Click here to search over all the journals, or click on a journal title to search in only that journal.

  16. If you selected SA Journals on the previous screen, you get to this screen.

  17. “All content” allows you to search over all the search fields. “Words in full text” allows you to search over all the words in the PDF.

  18. Search for an article that Snyman wrote about gender issues, but also dealt with hermeneutics. Limit the search to English articles. Limit the search to Accredited articles.

  20. This is the Contents Pages Screen. If you want to view the contents pages of the a journal, you must select the journal from this drop-down list. Let’s select the Dutch Reformed Theological Journal.

  21. You can view full-text articles, or you can view only abstracts of articles.

  22. These are the full-text issues that are available for this journal.

  23. These are the abstracts that are available for this journal.

  24. You can search across both the full text and the abstracts of the journal here.

  25. Click on the relevant number to move to the next batch of 10 records. You can sort or refine your results here.

  26. Records 251 – 255 records have no full text. The rest of the records on the screen do have full text.

  27. Click here to Exit. All your searches are stored for the duration of the session. If you click on the “History” button, you can recall a previous search, or you can combine two or more previous searches to form a new search.
