  4. Latino and Mexican Americans • Employment, education, housing discrimination • Cesar Chavez & UFW, Brown Power, Brown Berets, La Raza • Boycott, fast, march, legal action • Bilingual education, union acceptance, voice in govt Latino = Latin American descent Chicano = Mexican descent

  5. Asian Americans • Discrimination, WW2 compensation unequal pay/jobs • Japanese American Citizens League • Court action • Hawaiian statehood and political voice (Daniel Inouye), job and educopp’s

  6. Native Americans • Control over own life and govt, poverty and unemployment. • Declaration Indian Purpose ,Dennis Banks AIM • Legal challenges, Demonstrations and occupations (Alcatraz) • Fed aid, land and self-govt rights, BIA, IEA
