SSA/DDS Computer Systems Overview Interaction among existing systems 1 54 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 7
Legacy System Problems • Aging technology • Transaction Failures • Long Roll Out Cycle for Modifications • Cost of Maintaining Multiple SW Sets • Inefficient Collection of MI • Difficulty in Sharing Work among Components • Not the product of a strategic plan • Outmoded Technology
Solution - DCPS An All New “Modern” System For Use by All DD Components Fully Integrated with Other SSA Systems Jointly Designed, Tested, Implemented Rapid Rollout of New Functionality Easy Transfer of Work among DDSs

Design Rationale • A consistent look and feel throughout the application • Maximizes user workspaces • Allows users to resize and collapse workspaces • Minimizes the number of mouse-clicks/click-paths between functions • Allows for updating of information within a panel/workspace without a complete screen refresh • Allows quick access to various application functions via the Dashboard • Proven design methodology based on other industry standard design (e.g. Microsoft Outlook, e-Trade, etc.) • Flexible and extensible design allowing for future user customization and expansion of the number of panels
Queue View • Key Features: • Basic Information shown in a table format • Provides enough detail to allow for a user to select a work item • Work Item = an item that a user would perform work on, for example, Case, Task Request, Evidence Request DRAFT PROTOTYPE
Work Item View – 3 panel • Key Features: • Allows user to easily work within an item while allowing them to view the Dashboard and the work queue DRAFT PROTOTYPE
Quick View Shortcuts • Key Features: • Allows user one-click access to the different panel views DRAFT PROTOTYPE
Full Screen View • Key Features: • Provides a full screen view of a Case DRAFT PROTOTYPE
Are we “on schedule”? Is it done?
We Will Rely on Five Beta Sites What Beta Is • - a first step toward implementation • with a limited caseload • with a few users • with a “core” functionality
Beta Site What Beta Is not • - wall to wall • - corner to corner • floor to ceiling • eventual “full” functionality • dangerous adventure
“Iterative” Development • Start with enough basic functions to do a case • Then we start adding functionality • When stable, we bring up state 2 – Illinois • Continue adding functionality • When stable, we bring up state 3- Missouri • And so on through NY • When five states are stable, we have Release 1.0 • We estimate that this will take 18 months
When Will All This Happen*? • Idaho DDS Beta Sept 24 2012 • Thru January 2013 • Illinois DDS Beta March 2013 • Missouri DDS Beta July 2013 • Nebraska DDS Beta November 2013 • New York DDS Beta March 2014 • Rollout Begins in 65% of DDS by September 2015 • Rollout Begins in 100% of DDS February 2016 • Ramp up complete September 2016 • Legacy Systems Retired ?????? • *All subject to modification depending on stability and pace of development
