  3. Teaching schools and alliances • System leaders- NLEs/LLEs/SLEs/NLGs • The Big 6- School to school support& improvement Talent spotting & leadership development ITT & School Direct Peer to peer CPD Research & Development SLEs

  4. No contextual value added • 3 levels of progress not good enough • New curriculum • The LA- role, relationships • Budget pressure- chains, federations, academy, local pay scales

  5. Dashboard • Snap inspections for LAs • Floor standard- what next for primary accountability? • Homework free schools • The e-book rules, OK? • Two hours of core PE each week for all key stages

  6. Core requirements for success • Diligence • Do right • Ingenuity

  7. Diligence A prerequisite of great accomplishment

  8. Diligence • It does not take genius • Constant and earnest effort • Success is possible anywhere by anyone • Each success begins with a readiness to recognise problems and a determination to remedy them

  9. Moral clarity • Ingenuity • A willingness to try • Always look for what more you can do

  10. Do right • Our fight is to do what is right by our pupils even though what is right is not always easy or clear.

  11. Do right • Set aside your ego • There is no reason we cannot aim for everyone to do better • Do what is right and do it now

  12. Ingenuity • Character not superior intellect is what counts most

  13. Ingenuity • A reflection on failure and a constant searching for new solutions • We need to do two things: measure ourselves and be more open about what we are doing

  14. What’s on the horizon? • Go as far as you can see then see how far you can go

  15. What are the three most significant challenges you anticipate facing over the next 18 months?
