Other Admissions Types • Early Action - usually requires students to submit an application by November 1 • Early Decision – Legally binding - if accepted under an early decision program, you must withdraw all other applications and enroll at that institution • Regular Admission • Rolling Admission • Early Notification

Essays • Check to see if your student’s school requires essays. • If yes, make an appointment with the CHS Writing Center. • Colleges want to see if and how well students can write - take it seriously!
What is Naviance? • Allows CHS to electronically send: • Transcripts • Letters of recommendation • School profile • Other application forms to colleges • Naviance Family Connection: • Allows students to research 1,000’s of colleges and careers
How is Naviance Family Connection accessed? • Family Connection is on the Web • http://connection.naviance.com/cedarhigh • Contact CHS Counseling Office if need assistance • Naviance login is different than Skyward
Most of the information students will be completing is in the Colleges Tab.
Students must enter all schools they are applying to into their Naviance account.
Letters of Recommendation • Only if necessary! • Request letters in advance– give • at least 2 – 4 weeks to write a letter • Ask them in person first, then "request" them via Naviance Family Connection. • Complete Request for Recommendation form available in the Counseling Office or resume in Naviance.
College Application Checklist available in the CHS Counseling Office Students must complete this form for every college they are applying to. This form alerts the Counseling Office to send application materials to the colleges.
Summary of Application Process • Obtain your application online. • Complete the online application and pay the college's application fee online. • Using Naviance Family Connection, upload the schools into your account so supporting materials can be sent electronically. • Submit and complete a College Application Checklist in the Counseling Office along with the $5.00 processing fee.
Check Your Email! Remind your student to check their school email account Mrs. Burke will communicate through school email account with any questions regarding applications
Remember to communicate with your school counselor and update Naviance Family Connections account with the admissions status (accepted, denied, waitlisted etc.)

Military Academies If you would like information about a Military Service Academy - Attend Academy Day This year's annual Wisconsin Academy Day is on Sat, Sept 21, 2013 (10:00 am to 12:30 pm) at the EAA Museum in Oshkosh, WI Students have the rare opportunity to speak first hand with congressional staffers regarding the nomination process as well as meet with representatives from all five service academies
